Create a proposal and pitch for a media product (P1, P2, M1 U3 & P2 U21)
Learning Outcome 1 (U3): Be able to create a proposal
with sample materials for an original media product to a client brief.
Learning Outcome 2 (U21): Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on
a given brief
Objective
The purpose of this magazine is to inform the audience about upcoming concerts in these venues, as well as that it will inform the reader of previous concerts and music based events that have happened in those venues. The magazine will also have the purpose of entertaining the reader, it will entertain the reader because if they buy the paper copy they can scan QR codes which will either show them a short clip of a concert that has happened there or give them a short quiz on an artist that has recently performed there or will perform there in the future. The magazine will also have a small section which will give information on an artist.
Form (Formal print and online)
There will be a paper copy of this magazine, as well as an online copy. There will be an online copy because it is more of a convenience for people if they are able to access it from their phones or computer. The reason a paper copy will be available is so that people can buy the magazine on the go.
The size of the paper copy of the magazine will be A4, the reason for this is because it is a very convenient size for people. The magazine will be made out of paper and not card to help reduce the price of the print magazine, the magazine will be 88 pages long. For the online copy, it will be accessible through a link that will be emailed to them 2 days after the new copy of the magazine comes out.
Genre
The magazine will not have a specific genre. The reason there will be no specific genre is that having no genre allows everyone to read all copies of the magazine without having to wait for the specific concert hall genre to come out.
Although the 'genre' we will be talking about will be the venues themselves as well as the concerts that have and will be happening there in the future.
A range of different genres will be explored throughout the magazine, to ensure that we appeal to a wide range of customers. That way that can be drawn into each copy.
Content - In the whole magazine and double page spread
The magazine will consist of different venues in North London, artists that have performed in these venues as well as information about the artists and venues. In the paper copy of the magazine, there will be a QR code for the reader to scan which will give them a quiz or more information on the section they are reading. There will also be some issues which will contain ticket deals for concerts happening that month.
Other content will include information on concerts that have happened in these halls. Also, it will include potential other uses for the venues e.g Alexandra palace has an ice skating rink.
Target audience - Primary and secondary, Demographics = GRACE
The primary target audience will be 16-25-year-olds, male and female, all ethnicities. The reason these are my primary target audience is that these are the most common ages that people will begin to go to concerts.
The secondary target audience is 26-35-year-olds, male and female, all ethnicities. The reason that these are my secondary target audience is that these age groups are still going to concerts but not as often as the primary audience.
The NRS social grade I will be targeting is D as they will be the main section of people who will be able to comfortably buy tickets for concerts.

Distribution
This magazine will be sold by paper copy or the customer can subscribe to the magazine online and receive an online copy. The paper copy will be £5 monthly, whereas the online version of the magazine will be £3.99. Both versions will have a yearly subscription option. The yearly paper copy of the magazine will be £63, whereas the online versions yearly subscription will be £50. The magazine will be sold at the beginning of each month and inform people of concerts that are going to happen during that month and the next.
The paper magazine will be distributed through newsagents and record shops for people who don't subscribe to it but still want to read it. As well as that it will also be posted to people who do subscribe, this allows for higher customer satisfaction and people will be more likely to resubscribe. The online copy will be distributed to people through logins they will need to use to let them access the online website copy.
A marketing plan
One marketing idea I am going to use is to spread awareness for the magazine on social media. The way I will be doing this is by posting continuous adverts for it on my social media pages, from that hopefully people will become interested about it and buy subscriptions, from there hoping people will spread the word about the magazine. The reason this is one of my marketing plans is because a large number of people who live in London use social media so it will be easy to get the word out about the magazine. Social media sites we will use are Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. These platforms have been chosen as a wide range of people use them, which will increase the popularity of the product. The target audience is young, therefore this is the most successful way to target them.
Other ways we will advertise is by using other websites such as Amazon, eBay, clothing websites and other popular websites. The reason for this is to help spread awareness quickly as they are very popular websites.

Sample material
Title of the magazine
Venews, the reason I am calling it his is that it will be a venue based magazine. The magazine is going to inform people of upcoming events and any other news from the venues that the magazine is going to be based on.
Font
For the title on the front cover, I will be using a different font for each letter, each font will represent a genre of music. The reason I am going to use a different font for each letter is that the magazine will vary in genres week by week so creating a title page where each font represents a different genre shows that I will be using a wide variety of genres.
Body copy text
Ayuthaya. This is how it might look = Ally pally is in the borough Wood Green.

Hand drawn sketch layouts
Font styles: body copy, cover lines
The font for the title on the front cover will consist of different fonts, each letter of the fonts will represent a different genre of music, examples are Reggae, pop, heavy metal, etc. The reason I have chosen to do the title page like this is that it will help to show that the magazine will not have one specific genre and instead will cover a range of genres, as well as that it is designed to catch a passerby or the readers attention.
The font I will use for the text of the articles will be Ayuthaya. The reason for this is because it is a very neutral font, this means that if someone is reading it they won't think that it is specified to one specific genre, as well as that it will allow me to use it for a wide range of magazine articles as it isn't a genre-specific font.
The font I will use for the title of the article title will be a font called Maxi Marker. The reason I will use this font is that it is a very bold font so people will know when an article begins and finishes. As well as that it is a neutral font which will allow me to use it for different magazines as it isn't genre specific.
Article ideas
- Writing about concerts which will be happening at these venues - This links to the client requirements because it is about North London based venues. As well as that it allows for it to be easily expanded.
- Reviews of concerts that have happened there recently - The client asked for the magazine to be based around North London based venues and by writing about venues in North London it meets the customer needs.
- A scannable QR code for quizzes or extra information (Paper copy only) - The reason I am using this inside of the magazine is that it allows for customers to gain something out of purchasing the magazine which may encourage more people to purchase it.
- Ticket information - This will be included because it will allow customers to find out if their favorite artists are performing in venues near them.
- Other events at these venues - This will allow for customers to possibly discover new things to do in their local area at these venues that they may not have known they could do before.
Moodboard
Colour scheme
The colour scheme for the magazine will be White, Yellow, Black and Red. The reason for this is because these colours are very neutral colours and are also very bold colours which will help attract a potential customer who is just walking past to pick it up and read it.
Competition
Another competitor might be the actual venues' websites. The reason for this is because these websites will already tell people what concerts are going on there. The reason mine is different is because mine shows a variety of concerts, examples are; it shows smaller venues people might not necessarily go visit.
