Evaluating the response (D1 U21)

Learning Outcome 3 (U21):  Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions

The client provided me with five pieces of feedback. In this report, I will discuss what was useful and will, therefore, allow me to develop my production along with feedback that wasn't useful.

The client enjoyed the play on words of combining Venues and News
This feedback is good to receive because it means the client has thought about my idea for the title and has decided it is acceptable for the requirements that I was set.  Due to this feedback being positive it means that I won't need to change anything about the title and can keep it the same.

Letters for the title - Genre for letter needs to be more stereotypical
When presenting the idea of my magazine title I showed the font I will be using for the masthead of the front cover, I chose to do it by a different letter was a different design which showed the different genres. The issue the client had was that he wanted the letters to be more stereotypical for the genres. This feedback I will take into consideration when designing the final draft is that the letters need to be more stereotypical but the idea of different letters for each letter to represent genres will not change.

This is what I originally used:

This is what I will now be using:

This feedback really helped with my development as it has allowed me to really focus the masthead on different genres. This illustrates to my audience that the magazine will encompass different venues that promote a range of genres across North London, rather than just one.

Expand on mood board - put on fonts, give photos which relate to my specific magazine
When producing my final mood board the client told me that I need to include more than just photos of the venues I need to include; fonts, colors and other information about the magazine. I have decided not to take this feedback on board as I feel that the mood board I created along with my competitor research, is enough to aid my creative design ideas.

The reasoning for the price - paper can be more expensive just because of printing costs
When speaking about the price of the magazine I mentioned that the paper copy was more expensive due to the QR code inside, but on review and feedback from the client I understood I can still make the paper copy more expensive but for different reasons. The key reason would be due to printing costs. Instead, I lowered the price to £3.99 as opposed to £5 as my further developing research has demonstrated that QR codes aren't expensive to include. Also, £5 would have been too expensive for my consumers.

Colour of powerpoint should link to the colour scheme of magazine

When designing my powerpoint I tried to find a background to use but I was unable to find one. This is one piece of my presentation that the client picked up on. I explained the situation to him and if needed to I will redesign the powerpoint to include the colour schemes. This piece of feedback will not help with the development of my production, but it is useful for future pitches.
