Post-production techniques and processes (P5 U3)

Learning Outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief

Front cover

Suitability for the target audience
My front cover is suitable for my target audience. One reason I think this is because the colours I used neutral colours, the reason for having a neutral colour scheme is important for my magazine is because there is no target audience and therefore I have designed it so that everyone will like the colours.

Strengths
One strength for my front cover is that it is easy to depict what the magazines' main article is going to be about, the reason this is positive is because if the potential client were to walk past the magazine and see a venue which they may be interested in because they have never been there or have been there but not for a long time and want to find out more about the venue.

Another strength of the front cover is that there are large amounts of bold colours. The reason for this is because it is a way to captivate passerby attention. The reason this is a positive aspect of the front cover is that it means people will be more attracted to it if it sticks out and as a result will want to buy it and possibly sign up for a subscription.

Furthermore, another positive is that I have included articles that will be inside the magazine. The reason for doing this is because if someone looks at the magazine and is not interested in the venue included but wants to find out other information, then putting it at the front helps to prevent from customer complaints as customers will know what they will be buying to read.

Improvements

One area I could improve on regarding the front cover is that I could have used a wider variety of shapes on the front cover when writing about the other contents of the magazine, the reason for this is because if I use the same shapes it won't be as appealing were as if I used a variety of shapes it would be more appealing.

Double page spread

Suitability for the target audience
The reason that my double page spread is suitable for my target audience is that it is very informative of the venue, as well as that I have included the neutral colours which make it more appealing to all genders and doesn't specify any gender.

Strengths
One strength is that I have implemented a scannable QR code in the magazine. The reason this is positive is that it makes the magazine more interactive with the customers buying the magazine, and also gives the customer the chance to potentially win tickets in certain issues. This is good because the customer will want to buy more copies to increase the chance they have to win tickets.

Another strength is that I have included reviews from magazines and other popular newspapers. The reason I have chosen to do this is that it will allow the customer to get a review of the venue from someone who has personally been there. This increases customer satisfaction as it will let them know that the place being advertised is good.

Finally, I have also included other uses for the venue. The reason this is positive is because it further increases customer satisfaction as it gives the customer even more detail into what the venue can be used for. The reason the customer will enjoy this is because it is providing them with even more detail into what they can do at the venue.

Improvements
One area I can improve on is I could have used a wider variety of colours for the fonts, the reason for this is that I have used predominately black, yellow and red. Although they were the colours I was focusing my magazine around having these colours repeated on the text may become boring for the customer to read and as a result may refrain from buying another copy.
